Free summer concert season is in full effect, and here’s another great one in a picturesque spot to add to your calendar. The River & Blues Festival is back for another season starting this week, bringing free world-class blues, soul and funk music to Robert F. Wagner Jr. Park in Lower Manhattan.

The fest, which has been going for more than 20 years strong, kicks off Thursday with Nicole Atkins, the New Jersey via Nashville singer who mixes disco, folk and country rock. The rest of the shows this month include Eljuri, Cha Wa, Nicole Wray, Maggie Rose, Cedric Burnside and Susan Z. Anthony.

Doors for the free shows at Robert F. Wagner Jr. Park (16 Battery Place) open at 6 p.m. See the full lineup here
