The Year of the Rabbit Hops Along With Chinese Calligraphy, Kids Events

The Chinese year of the rabbit is in full swing, and you can embrace its bouncy spirit with some family-friendly events at the China Institute (100 Washington St.).

On Thursdays starting this week through late June, the institute will host a calligraphy meetup for visitors to learn, explore and practice the art of brushwork and composition. Tickets are $5 to the general public and free to members and students, and give you access to a two-hour open session about the ancient art of calligraphy. No experience is required; ink, paper and brushes will be provided. Reserve your spot here

On top of that, on every first Sunday starting next month, the institute is launching a “hoppy rabbit” playdate. The program will offer one-hour open sessions where children can use the spacious and cozy indoor playground free of charge, providing a great chance to interact with other kids and further explore Chinese language and culture.
