Volunteer With Us to Get Bowling Green Park Ready for Spring
It seems impossible to comprehend that we have an entire fall and winter to get through before spring arrives again. But if the SAD is already starting to creep in, or you just want an opportunity to flex your green thumb before the frost comes, join the Downtown Alliance and 28 Liberty on Thursday, October 24 for a special volunteer opportunity.
From 10 a.m. to noon, we’re heading to Bowling Green Park to plant daffodil bulbs and otherwise beautify the green space so it’ll be ready for spring. Volunteer activities include planting spring bulbs, fertilizing the soil, raking the lawn and under benches, and removing any trash from park shrubs.
Participants will meet at Fosun Plaza (south side near the “Four Trees” sculpture) at 9:45 a.m. to walk over to the park; if you’re running late, you can go directly to Bowling Green Park and check in with the staff. Once at the park, there will be a secure area to store bags, coats and other personal items; there are also restrooms nearby at Battery Park.
This event is outdoors, so please remember to wear warm, comfortable clothing — and do bring a hat, gloves and sunscreen. We will be providing gardening tools, but if you have a favorite of your own, feel free to bring it with you! This opportunity is open to gardening experts as well as novices. You can register for the event here, and if you’re interested in hearing about more of these opportunities, fill out our volunteer form.
