You Must Try Breakfast at Conwell Coffee Hall

July 14, 2025

Conwell Coffee Hall at 6 Hanover St. has earned a reputation as a go-to spot for coffee and cocktails in the neighborhood since opening in 2024, thanks as much to its gorgeous Art Deco decor as its delectable eats and drinks. We stopped by for breakfast recently and can confirm: Conwell’s still got it.

Located in a former bank lobby, Conwell’s space is nothing short of breathtaking. After walking through the revolving door, you are transported to another era, immediately greeted with grandiose 20-foot ceilings and stately marble columns — not something you see in every coffee shop in town. What we love most about Conwell is how it does not shy away from its banking roots in the slightest, forgoing classic contemporary coffeehouse lighting in favor of an imposing chandelier, and the humble coffee counter with a steel cage wherebank tellers once worked long days.

You can get your breakfast to go, but if you’ve got a little time in the morning, eating in is the move. Conwell compels its patrons to sit down and stay a while at cozy banquets or shared tables where you can’t help but strike up a conversation with your neighbor.

A cup of coffee in a cup branded with a C sits next to a bowl of vegetables topped with avocado on a glass table.

Conwell’s menu balances coffee shop staples with full-fledged breakfast fare (think a croissant to go next to a sit-down spread of French toast that demands your full attention). Our personal favorite, the avocado toast, was recommended to us by a regular who said she gets it at least twice a week before heading to work just two blocks away.

Open from 7:30 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. during the week, and 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. on weekends, Conwell remains a must-try.
