LMCC Now Offering Free Creative Art Classes For Older Adults

The Lower Manhattan Cultural Council is back with a 2021 schedule of programs for older adults, with offerings ranging from a Japanese dance workshop to memoir writing.

LMCC has tapped a roster of 18 artists and arts organizations across disciplines to promote creative-aging projects for seniors in the neighborhood. The classes are offered through June 30, and all are remote and free to attend. No previous experience is required, and art materials are provided.

The series includes dance and movement, music, theater and storytelling, visual arts and writing and literature. They cover a wide range of practices and formats, including Afro Latin jazz, a self-portrayal workshop framed through Duke Ellington’s “In My Solitude,” a comedy writing workshop; printing, stamping and carving instructions and much more.
