See What 30 Artists Were Up To During Quarantine At The Seaport’s New Art Walk

It’s perfectly fine if you spent last year just surviving and not working on any huge projects. Some artists, however, couldn’t help themselves, and here is your chance to see what they’ve been up to.

Last week, a new art walk named ”The Magic HOUR” opened at the Seaport. The exhibit, produced by the Black Gotham Experience’s Kamau Ware, was named for the “dusk” New York City experienced during the first year of the pandemic, and the promise or peril that lies on either side of it. It features more than 30 local artists, over five exhibitions with five curators at multiple sites.

The five exhibitions include projects such as “Inside/Out,” which explores the “reckonings of being on the outside looking in — and on the inside looking out” at the ways time affected New Yorkers; and “Big Apple Gifts and Souvenirs,” which focuses on “portals to stories we tell and retell” aiming to provide visitors with a different kind of souvenir that you won’t find on Canal Street.

The gallery is open 12 p.m. to 7 p.m., Friday to Sunday; special programming is held on Thursdays in select galleries beginning August 19 from 7–9 p.m. For addresses and more information on the exhibits, check out the site here
