Mark These Acts on Your Calendar for LMCC’s River to River Festival
Lower Manhattan Cultural Council’s River to River Festival returns June 12–June 26, joining the explosion of neighborhood events like Dine Around Downtown and Playscape Performs that are set to take over Lower Manhattan. The following are five River to River acts you won’t want to miss.
Gregory Corbino’s “MURMURATIONS” (June 12)
This collective puppetry performance on opening night invites humans of all ages to shed their human bodies and become a murmuration of menhaden. Puppetry, song and movement transform Battery Park City into a seascape of androgenous oysters, stunning sturgeon and captivating cetaceans.
Beth Gill’s “Nail Biter” (June 22–23)
This performance is a darkly beautiful dreamscape in which the theatrical tools of character and story are reimagined through a psychodramatic lens, transforming contemporary dance performance into a vital space of ritual.
Amy Khoshbin and Jennifer Khoshbin’s “The Sun Seekers” (June 18)
This hour-long participatory performance (photo above) is set in sisters Amy and Jennifer’s immersive installation that promotes healing through disconnecting with technology and reconnecting with ourselves, each other and the natural world.
Rose DeSiano’s “Lenticular Histories: South Street Seaport” (June 18–26)
Creating an immersive space made up of larger-than-life lenticular photographs, DeSiano merges past and present together in an installation of mirrors, historic images, and optical illusions.
Craig Harris’s “Breathe” (June 25)
Performed by a large ensemble of musicians, “Breathe” makes a sonic statement in response to the long-term and current injustices inflicted upon African American people.
