Where to Celebrate Hanukkah in Lower Manhattan

Six events where you and your family can observe this year’s Festival of Lights below Chambers Street.

1. Hanukkah on Ice at Pier 17

The Seaport will roast its candles Sunday, December 18, at sundown. But come early for latkes, live music, face-painting and even a little Hanukkah skating. Activities start at 2:30 p.m.

2. Menorah Lighting at the New York Stock Exchange

Another option is to swing by 18 Broad Street on Monday, December 19, at 4 p.m. and spend the holiday with live music, latkes and donuts.

3. Hanukkah Party at the Hyatt Rooftop

Enjoy an open bar, sushi buffet, more latkes and a menorah lighting at a chic Lower Manhattan hotel rooftop: Tuesday, December 20 at 4 p.m.

4. Hanukkah With FDNY Engine 4

On Wednesday, December 21, come through Ladder 15 at 42 South Street to serve dinner to local firefighters and, in return, get a look-around at all their gear. A menorah lighting will follow. The celebration begins at 4:30 p.m.

5. Community Shabbat Hanukkah Dinner

On Friday, December 23 at 6:30 p.m., come together with friends and family to celebrate the sixth night of Hanukkah — light some candles and bring your appetites.

6. Menorah Lighting at Bowling Green Park

On Sunday, December 25, commemorate those who arrived in Lower Manhattan 365 years ago at the location of the first Jewish community in North America with a grand menorah lighting, latkes and sufganiyot. Festivities begin at 4:30 p.m.
