Saturday Is the Governors Island Egg Hunt

Governors Island is cranking up the spring vibes this Saturday by scattering a whopping 10,000 painted hard-boiled eggs throughout its 172 acres in New York Harbor. Participants (broken into multiple age groups — the young and older can attend) can scavenge for prizes and giveaways. The event is free.

Once you’ve amassed your quota, be sure to stick around for live performances, arts and crafts, puppet and magic shows and more. Food will be available to purchase, and the beer garden will be fully operational. The Governors Island website has the event schedule, which begins around 10 a.m.

Oh, and if this early-morning jaunt is not your style, then consider hunting down a last-minute reservation at any of these restaurants serving up special menus for Easter brunch.
