Wheelchair-Accessible Eateries in Lower Manhattan

Identifying accessible retailers is something that the Alliance has always strived to be knowledgeable about — but given the ever-changing nature of the restaurant and retail world, it can be difficult to keep track of these sorts of details. This year, we attempted to collect this information in the hopes that it can assist workers, residents and tourists alike.

Here’s a map of storefront eateries south of Chambers Street that have either self-identified as accessible or that an Alliance staffer has personally verified. By accessible, we mean whether the establishments provide a visible ramp or elevator (as opposed to just being accessible by stairs), or, if the business’s primary entrance was a revolving door, that they also had another entrypoint nearby.

Separately, the Alliance pieced together this more comprehensive list that shows north of 80 wheelchair-accessible restaurants in the neighborhood. Note that some businesses on the list identify as accessible despite not meeting the visual requirements. Instead, they have posted signage out front that asks those with wheelchairs to ring a bell for assistance.

This is by no means a definitive list of wheelchair-accessible eateries in the neighborhood. If you or a friend knows another business that should be added, please email us and let us know.
