In the original Fiddler on the Roof (1971, 201 minutes, English, no subtitles)—one of the most classic Jewish films of all time—a poor Jewish peasant living in Anatevka is faced with the challenge of marrying off his five daughters amidst the growing tension in his village. The film received a leading eight nominations at the Academy Awards, including for the Best Picture, and won three: Best Original Score, Best Cinematography, and Best Sound.
