Brace Yourself — Archtober Tours Are Coming In Virtual And IRL Form

New York City history buffs are readying for the annual tradition of Archtober — the virtual and IRL touring of historic buildings throughout the city. And, as always, Lower Manhattan has its fair share of events.

Highlights include this Sunday’s Financial District Hidden Gems Tour. The October 3 in-person tour begins at 11 a.m. at 43 Park Row, when experts will reveal “some of the buried secrets” of Wall Street “that helped to define not only New York City, but the entire country.” Tickets range $29 to $35.

On October 9 and October 23, the South Street Seaport Museum’s art director Rob Wilson (i.e. this charming gentleman) is hosting “Typography and Job Printing in the 19th-Century Seaport.” Both events, scheduled for Saturdays at 2 p.m., provide a free, in-person tour of the historic Seaport, “where passenger and shipping services printed their tickets and advertisements.” After the tour, stick around for a 19th century printing demonstration at the museum’s delightful printing shop Bowne & Co. Stationers.
