Teach Your Tots How to Care for the Planet at Earth Matter’s Compost Learning Center
Taking care of the planet is essential for the sake of future generations — but it’s also never too early for those future generations to learn the importance of sustainability. To get your young ones started, this summer environmental org Earth Matter will host an Earth stewardship program for toddlers (ages 2 to 4) and their caregivers at their Compost Learning Center on Governors Island.
The program, dubbed Compost Critters Club, runs June 13 through August 22 on Mondays from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. For $150, participants can choose five out of 10 possible planet-centric programs; tuition assistance is also available. Earth Matter hopes the program will make green spaces accessible to children and caregivers from disenfranchised communities, as well as foster lifelong habits in composting and gardening — and encourage community building via student-driven activities and lessons in the garden.
