Havaianas A Nice Summer!
By: Caroline De Tino
Step off the train and into a pair of Havaianas at Westfield World Trade Center.
Since Havaianas invented the rubber flip flop in 1966, they have been outfitting people with comfortable footwear for more than 50 years. And now, they are setting up shop in the World Trade Center with one of their largest stores in the Tri-State area. And try this on for size — the shop even features a palm tree with leaves made entirely from flip flop straps!
While the idea for their flip flops originated with the traditional Japanese Zori finger sandal which features a sole of rice straw, the Havaianas version uses rubber. The Zori’s rice grain inspires the flip flop’s insole texture.
Havaianas began customizing their sandals in 1996, including different colors on the insole which has led to versions in more than 15 different colors and a special edition that features 18 karat gold and diamonds.
Nothing says summer fashionable and always comfortable like a pair of Havaianas. Swing by Westfield World Trade Center and check out a pair for yourself!
