New York City wants YOU to vote!

Did you know that it is a state law for all employees to receive two hours paid leave to vote if they don’t have enough time to get to the polls? So what’s stopping you?

In recent years, the City has had a rough go during primary elections. In 2014, New York ranked 46th out of 50 states in voter turnout. And in the 2008 primary, only 19% of New Yorkers actually participated.

Increasing voter turnout is critical to making sure New York’s voice is heard!

That’s why the Association for a Better New York (ABNY) and the Partnership for New York City (PFNYC) have teamed up to encourage New Yorkers to vote during the state’s presidential primary on April 19th.  They would like employers to #PromotetheVote in the workplace and allow ample time to vote.

Visit PromoteTheVote.nyc to pledge support as an employer and gain momentum by tweeting or posting about this cause!

“Our voting rights are the bedrock of self-determination and the muscles of our democracy,” said Jessica Lappin, President of the Alliance for Downtown New York. “Getting out to vote and expressing your choice is a vital civic duty. The #PromoteTheVote campaign will engage New York’s employers to enlist them in the fight to increase turnout. Making sure all New Yorkers understand they are entitled to the time to participate in this year’s important election is a great goal.”
