Discover La Parisienne’s Irresistible French Bistro Classics

Small businesses are an integral part of the Lower Manhattan community. In anticipation of Small Business Saturday (November 30), every week we’re introducing you to a local business on our Instagram TV series “Shop Small.” Also, be sure to nominate your favorite store south of Chambers Street and you’ll be entered to win a $500 prize that can be spent at up to five Lower Manhattan small businesses!

Lower Manhattan’s busy and bustling crowds may gravitate towards familiar chains, but those who are in the know recognize hidden gems like La Parisienne. The French cafe on 9 Maiden Lane, helmed by husband/wife Adrian and Julie Bruyère, serves breakfast, lunch and weekend brunch. The menu is irresistible — favorites include a savory burrata, rich brioche French toast, their staple croque madame, avocado toast (a morning-commuter staple) and a sweet and creamy paris-brest.

In addition to the delicious eats, La Parisienne’s beautiful, low-key space should lend legitimate bragging rights to the Bruyères, who say they frequently witness “tourists, residents and business people who love coming to get away from the New York City hustle.” The couple revels in maintaining an authentic and inviting space; it also helps that all wines are at happy-hour prices every day. “We decided to open in Lower Manhattan because of how well we know the neighborhood,” Julie added. “In fact, we have been living in Battery Park City for more than five years and have seen firsthand how the neighborhood has changed as well as all the different kinds of people it attracts.

“We figured that La Parisienne could offer what people living, working or visiting in Lower Manhattan need.”
