Lower Manhattan’s Alamo Drafthouse Is Opening On MONDAY

On Wednesday Variety reported the opening date for 28 Liberty Street’s hotly anticipated Alamo Drafthouse location, Manhattan’s first outpost of the Austin-based cinema chain that lets you dine while you watch:

Starting on Oct. 18, customers will be able to visit the Alamo Drafthouse Lower Manhattan to get their fix of popcorn, buffalo cauliflower and beer while watching the latest blockbuster unfold on the big screen. The soft launch period will run through Oct. 21, a time during which guests will receive special discounts on select food and non-alcoholic beverages while staff members train and find their bearings.

That’s right — at long last, you’ll be able to do dinner and a movie in style. The Lower Manhattan location is the third Alamo Drafthouse multiplex to land in New York, following openings in Downtown Brooklyn and Yonkers. As previously reported, the Liberty Street location will house 14 screens as well as The Press Room, where (for those civilized types who actually get to movies on time) one can sip a cocktail before their screening.

Last month, as a friendly gesture to welcome itself to the district, the Drafthouse hosted a series of free outdoor movies at Fosun Plaza that celebrated different aspects of New York City.
