Meccagodzilla Heads to the Oculus for Hip-Hop’s 50th Birthday

The festivities surrounding hip-hop’s 50th anniversary continue in Lower Manhattan, with several artists and musical performances slated to take over WTC Oculus Plaza (33 Vesey St.) from August 14 to August 18 for a “50 Years ’Til Infinity” bash. 

The weeklong celebration, which Art on the Ave NYC launched in collaboration with Westfield World Trade Center, includes emcees such as rapper Meccagodzilla, live painting from Lance Johnson and several other acts to ring in hip-hop’s big birthday.  

Here’s the bulk of the lineup:

  • August 14, 12-2. Live painting with Lance Johnson and DJ Beats with MC Maniphes
  • August 15, 12-2. Live Painting with Lance Johnson and dance performance with Melanie Aguirre
  • August 16, 12-2. Dance performance with Melanie Aguirre and Beatmaker/rapper Meccagozilla
  • August 17, 4-6. Live painting with Shaniqua Benitez, Barry Mason, and MC Maniphes and dance performance with Micaela Gonzalez
  • August 18, 4-6. Rap performance and Hip Hop piano riffs with MC Maniphes and Vanessa Daley
