Five Downtown New Year’s Resolutions to Kick Off 2024

If you’re anything like us, we welcome each new year as an opportunity to reset in pursuit of leading better lives. Sometimes the vision board goal is “healthy,” but other times the goal is simply “happy.” Whatever the case, here are five new year’s resolutions to consider tackling in Lower Manhattan.

Keep It Moving

After weeks of holiday parties, rich food, many festive drinks and plenty of good ol’ couch time, you may want to remember what it’s like to move your body. If that’s the case, we recommend a healthy yoga flow at One Yoga to wake you up inside (if you can’t wake up).

Get Lost in a Good Book

There’s no better escape from reality than a good book. Stop in to McNally Jackson Books Seaport to browse the idyllic shelves and stock up on titles that will transport you through time and space. Whatever your reading goal for 2024, the independent bookseller will be sure to point you in the right direction of a good read (or 12).

Go Green

Whether you’ve sworn off alcohol for dry January, or if you simply need to detox before you retox, Healthy Green Juice Bar can help. A tried and true Lower Manhattan favorite, this juice bar offers a plethora of fresh juices, protein smoothies and acai bowls to boost your spirits during what feels like the longest month of the year.

Live and Learn

What better way to usher in a fresh start than by committing to learning a new language? ABC Languages New York City offers tailored lessons for over 20 different languages online and in person at its Broadway location. Vamos!

Embrace Your Sweet Tooth

It may not be a popular opinion, but did you know that not all resolutions have to be especially healthy? That’s right — some can simply be sweet. Say, for instance, you would like to eat more candy this year (and whom among us doesn’t?). If that’s the case, be sure to visit 77 Candy Store, an old-timey penny candy store tucked away at the base of 77 Water St., for bodega staples and sweet treats. Now that’s a resolution we just might stick with.
