Reminder: Our Fall Shred-a-Thon and Clothing Drop-Off Is on October 5

Start pulling your old threads out of the closet and compiling those tax docs from 2015, because the Alliance’s annual fall shred-a-thon and textile recycling event is coming up! On Saturday, October 5, head to Fulton Street (between Ryders Alley and Cliff Street), where a mobile shredding truck will securely destroy and recycle all your sensitive documents, tax receipts, junk mail and old bills (staples and paperclips are okay). Shredding hours are from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., or until the truck is full. Please limit to 10 bags/boxes per person.

As a reminder, you can bring freshly-laundered clothing, accessories and textiles for recycling. Accepted items include clothing, shoes, belts, handbags, hats, as well as household linens (curtains, sheets, towels), courtesy of Wearable Collections. Please leave carpeting, rugs, bath mats, comforters, pillows, large luggage, fabric or scraps of any kind, including pre-recycled insulation materials, at home. You’ll find a full list of accepted items here, and Wearable Collections offers suggestions for donating items they don’t accept here
