Overview

Jasper's Split Star was installed outside the public plaza outside 7 World Trade Center nearly two decades after artist Frank Stella's two large-scale paintings, "Telepilus Laestrygonia I" and "Telepilus Laestrygonia II", were destroyed in the September 11 attacks. The paintings were located in the lobby of the original 7 WTC, and Jasper's Split Star marked a momentous occasion in Lower Manhattan's post-9/11 rebuilding efforts. The piece consists of a 12-point aluminum star, made of six smaller pieces and a series of geometric grids. Installed by Silverstein properties.
