Downtown Alliance Statement on Potential Conde Nast Move to Lower Manhattan

Elizabeth H. Berger, President of the Alliance for Downtown New York, issued the following statement today following a report by The New York Times that publishing giant Conde Nast has signed a tentative deal to move to 1 World Trade Center, which is currently under construction:

“It’s great news that Conde Nast is considering a move to Lower Manhattan. Wall Street is known around the world as the premier financial services address, but Lower Manhattan has so much more. The Daily News and American Media will soon join 59 other media tenants that are already here. If Conde Nast follows, Lower Manhattan will be media central. With one of New York’s fastest-growing residential populations, a host of exciting amenities and a public transportation network that offers access throughout the tri-state region, Lower Manhattan is a model 21st century central business district. It’s little surprise that Conde Nast, which sets a standard for wit, style and cutting-edge thinking, is considering making Lower Manhattan its new home.”
