LM’s New Five & Dime Serves Up Brews & Booze
By: Owa Kankhwende
Five & Dime is a suave mix of a surgeon’s precision and an artist’s creativity. Quite literally, the new coffee and cocktail spot at 8 Park Place is the brainchild of Mark Mohrmann, a surgeon who elected to create a labor of love that is there for both early risers and mischievous late nighters.
The award-winning baristas’ varied international backgrounds is reflected in the coffee they serve up. Step in for the ‘Coffee of the Day’ that transports you to Central America thanks to the Honduran the Cerro Azul by Finca. Or go a little bit farther with the Matahara from Ethiopia by Heleanna.
When the sun sets, the focus shifts from caffeination to cocktails. Try out the ‘Lex in the City’ that mixes gin, yellow chartreuse and prosecco. Or try the ‘Woolworth Toddy’, named for the historic building Five & Dime calls home. This drink mixes cognac with sweet rosemary honey.
It’s not all coffee and booze at Five & Dime. They serve up some tasty food to pair with your beverages. A fresh baked pastry menu includes tempting treats like blueberry scones with a lemon glaze and gluten-free chocolate bread.
Open from 7 AM to midnight, this Five & Dime makes you want to come back morning and night!
