Non-Basic Date Idea: “Destination Cosmos” at Hall des Lumières

Wanna impress science bae? Don’t say we never turned you onto “Destination Cosmos: The Immersive Space Experience,” a digital exhibition opening April 7 at Hall des Lumières. Promising 13 sequences of an interstellar voyage, the installation’s NASA-provided imagery includes that of the heart of Jupiter, the rings of Saturn, Martian canyons and supernovae — a journey that begins at Cape Canaveral and ends in the universe’s outer reaches.

The “Cosmos” exhibit plays off marble brass and stained glass features within Hall des Lumières’s 28,000-square-foot space (formerly the Emigrant Industrial Savings Bank), and uses cutting-edge mapping technology to highlight stunning footage from space you’ve probably never seen before. Get your tickets asap — and if you don’t already have a dating partner on hand, you can probably find one at Whole Foods.
