Toss Your Holiday Trees and Wreaths at the Parks Department’s Mulchfest

Toss Your Holiday Trees and Wreaths at the Parks Department’s Mulchfest

Now that the holiday season has successfully cleaned out your bank account, it’s time to sweep those pine needles off the living room floor until next year. The New York City Department of Parks and Recreation is running its annual Mulchfest through January 7 at several locations throughout the city. Lower Manhattanites can bring their old trees, wreaths and other holiday trimmings to the Battery (Greenwich Street and Battery Place) during park hours, and the city will responsibly recycle them.

For other Mulchfest locations around town, consult the NYC Parks map here, which also has spots listed for multiple chipping sites this weekend to work on any trees (sans lights and ornaments) brought their way. Let your friends, neighbors and local woodpeckers know!
