Covering Downtown From a New Angle

01/28/2014

Terese Loeb Kreuzer has been covering the goings-on Downtown for a decade now as a reporter and editor for various publications, including The Broadsheet, NYC Reconnects, and Downtown Express. She recently channeled her expertise in all things Lower Manhattan into a new venture when she founded Downtown Post NYC.

The primary publication is a newsletter emailed to subscribers (subscriptions are free) on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. She also set up a website where she is archiving previous issues of the newsletter and posting breaking news updates. The website also gives people a place to sign up to receive the newsletter and to send letters to the editor.

“I consider journalism to be a form of service to the community. I consider it a calling,” she said. “My job is to funnel information to readers that they can use to improve their own quality of life and that of the community in general. I hope to be useful.”

Kreuzer said she’s been getting a lot of positive feedback regarding the Post from readers who have called it “informative,” and an “extremely valuable publication,” and is excited to see what the future holds. Readership statistics have also been encouraging; the subscriber base doubled in one month.

Her breadth of experiencing covering the Lower Manhattan landscape gives her a unique perspective into the news, and she said she’s committed to writing informative and balanced articles.

“That takes a lot of work, but I believe it’s worthwhile,” she said. For more information or to subscribe, visit the website.
