Picture Lower Manhattan: New York by Gehry

03/01/2012 in

New York by Gehry at 8 Spruce Street is the tallest residential building in the Western Hemisphere and the 11th-tallest in the world. Designed by master architect Frank Gehry, it rises 76 stories — or 870 feet — into the sky. But the aspect I find most appealing is the artistry in its design. As sunlight shifts throughout the day, the building’s wavelike, stainless steel exterior appears to be changing shape, an illusion that’s magical and mesmerizing. Try taking a picture.  No matter where the light hits and shadows fall, the undulating effect will always give your lens something new to capture.
