Celebrating Pride In Lower Manhattan All Month Long
June is Pride Month, and the neighborhood is celebrating accordingly. We’ve rounded up some highlights from this month’s Pride specials and events, and be sure to check out our literature ”Queer All Along — A Short History of LGBTQ Life in Lower Manhattan,” which documents the neighborhood’s extensive LGBTQ history and role in the fight for equal rights.
The Supergay Cocktail At Temple Court
The Beekman (5 Beekman Street) has a new specialty drink for Pride — the Supergay Cocktail, made with Supergay Spirits craft vodka, club soda and grapefruit bitters. You can score yours at the historic Bar Room at The Beekman, or head to Temple Court on Ten for a fancy post-work meal and pair your drinks with a three-course dinner.
Rainbow-Colored Cocktails At Cobble & Co.
The lovely patio at Cobble & Co. (19 Fulton Street) can now be enjoyed with a special menu filled with rainbow-colored craft cocktails. And as a bonus, they’ll provide you with a punch card, so you can come back all month to try their entire flight of Pride-themed drinks. Finish the flight, and you’ll be entered in a contest to win a free meal.
The Mimosa Pride Flight At Malibu Farm
Helene Henderson‘s fresh, farm-to-table California cuisine at Malibu Farm (89 South Street) will be accompanied by four mimosa flavors this June: beet, orange, carrot and kale. The full flight is prepared with fresh fruit and vegetable juice and topped off with prosecco for $48. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS.
Pride N’ True Dairy Dip At Mister Dips
Pier 17’s newest resident, Mister Dips (89 South Street), is serving up more than its usual burgers and crispy boneless chicken (which we highly recommend, btw) and sweet treats. Operator Andrew Carmellini has launched a new cone of the month, the Pride N’ True Dairy Dip: vanilla custard, cake batter and all the colors of the rainbow. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of each cone will support The Trevor Project.
Mini-Lawn Reservations At The Greens
Enjoy the sunshine and green space at The Greens at Pier 17, knowing that a portion of your reservation fee is donated directly to the Ali Forney Center, an organization dedicated to protecting at-risk LGBTQ youth from homelessness and empowering them with the tools needed to live independently.
Drag Brunch At The Greens
Also on the Pier 17 rooftop: On Saturday, June 19 from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m., four of New York City’s beloved drag queens — Lagoona Blue, Elektra Lite, Kiki Ball-Change and Castrata — are performing live with musical accompaniment by DJ 2Face.
Reservations will become available Thursday, June 10, via Tock, and a portion of each reservation fee will also go to the Ali Forney Center. Each reservation will also receive a complimentary bucket of sparkling water, from the event’s sponsor Bubly.
Brunch Becomes Her At Cowgirl Seahorse
The thing about Cowgirl Seahorse (259 Front Street) that the owners know how to pair food with fun. Every Saturday from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. brunchers can rely on the Seaport operation’s down-home cooking as well as having their order of sausage and biscuits accompanied by resident drag queen Blake Deadly’s “Brunch Becomes Her” performances.
