Lower Manhattan’s Biggest Movie Theater Is Back

Film buffs, rejoice: after a year-plus long closure, the Regal Battery Park (102 North End Avenue) has returned.

Beginning April 23 — and just a few weeks ahead of “Fast & Furious 9” — you can expect Covid safety measures such as mask requirements and capacity limits. When Governor Cuomo gave the green light for movie theaters to reopen in New York City last month, he ordered a 25% capacity cap, mask mandates and assigned seating. Some theaters have been keeping their concession stands closed, so theatergoers don’t have to navigate indoor-eating amid the pandemic. Though it’s unclear whether the Regal’s operation will follow suit.

If you want to see a movie, be sure to book well in advance, and maybe eat before you go. Otherwise, enjoy seeing the fast cars go vroom on the big screen, just like in the good old days.
