Battery Park City Teen Films Poignant Short Film On Citi Bike

For New Yorkers staying put in their respective neighborhoods and wondering what the rest of the city looks like beyond their residential borders, Arjun Govind, a teenager who grew up in Battery Park City, hopped on a Citi Bike and recorded the streets for the rest of us more sedentary residents.

The four-minute clip opens with early pandemic announcements before sweeping the viewer into a haunting and oddly romantic journey through several recognizable locations. The main message is one of quiet determination — it’s tough to watch once-lively areas become still, but there is comfort knowing our home is doing its part to kick out COVID so we can resume the love story with our city.
