Lower Manhattan Is…

What’s in a name? Lower Manhattan means many things to many people. To some, it’s where deals get made. Others think of it as the ultimate travel destination. To over 60,000 others, it’s home. (To the Downtown Alliance, it’s south of Chambers Street — more on that here!) 

The history runs deep, and the future potential is endless.

Lower Manhattan is, of course, New York City’s greatest hits: the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, the Brooklyn Bridge.

But it’s also your favorite coffee shop, the perfect place to power lunch and dinner and a show. 

It’s the best rooftop bars, happy hours and brunches.

It’s landmarks like Trinity Church, the New York Stock Exchange and Federal Hall.

Lower Manhattan is the setting and main character in your favorite films and TV shows.

It’s an architect’s dream, with buildings like the Woolworth Building, 70 Pine and the Beekman Hotel.

It’s surrounded by water on three sides, with a ferry-accessible island park to match. 

It’s a place to reflect, learn and feel inspired

Lower Manhattan is a place to shop, to sweat, to stroll.

It’s where you can find comfort and try something new.

With 13 subway lines, multiple bus routes, 17 commuter ferry routes and a plethora of bike lanes and bike-share stations, it’s the most convenient neighborhood for transportation in New York City.

Simply put, Lower Manhattan is the whole world in one square mile. We can’t wait to show you it all.
