Advantage, Lower Manhattan: Brookfield Place Open Begins on August 20
Queue up the “Challengers” soundtrack: If you didn’t qualify for the U.S. Open, there’s still an opportunity to showcase your tennis backhand at an upcoming event with arguably better views. From August 20 through 29, Brookfield Place will transform its Waterfront Plaza into a center court for its 9th annual Brookfield Place Open. In partnership with the Tennis Channel, Brookfield Place will offer a variety of tennis programming in addition to open court play, including adult clinics and kids’ clinics. Tennis balls will be provided but Brookfield recommends bringing your own racquet if you can. There will be a limited supply of racquets available for those in need.
Registration for open-court play and select clinics opens to the public at 10 a.m. on August 13. You can register here, though if you’re a tenant of Brookfield Place, you’ll be able to register on the axiis app starting at 10 a.m. on August 6. And as a reminder, the US Open will be serving up the good stuff from August 26 through September 8.
