A Quick Eat For Every Day Of The Week
By: Owa Kankhwende
We recently teamed up with legendary NYC restaurateur and Nobu owner Drew Nieporent for a roundup of Lower Manhattan’s best quick eats for our “What’s Cooking” video series. The result, a very full belly, and a Top 5 list that can keep you eating well all week long. From burgers on Monday to al fresco oysters on Friday, check out these hidden gems across the neighborhood:
Zaitzeff offers up one of Lower Manhattan’s best burgers and lets you build it on a Kobe-style, sirloin or turkey patty, and finishes it off with a Portuguese roll.
Pisillo’s lays serious claim to the title of Best Italian Panini in Lower Manhattan, with support from The New Yorker no less, and each are meticulously sliced to order.
Bennie’s Thai Cafe is the ultimate Lower Manhattan success story. Bennie opened the spot as a Blimpie’s franchise but it was her delicious Pad Thai that drove the business so she changed the concept to focus on her own recipes instead of subs.
Adrienne’s Pizza Bar sits along historic Stone Street and serves up one of the neighborhood’s best sheet pan pizzas, each baked to a crisp perfection.
Pier A Harbor House has unparalleled views of the NY Harbor and the Statue of Liberty but it’s the oysters that captured our attention.
And, these places are in great company. Lower Manhattan is currently home to more than 500 places to eat or drink ranging from the Michelin-starred L’Appart to the brand new Blue Bottle Coffee and everything in between. Here’s a quick look at the latest openings and what’s on the horizon.
