How to Get a Covid Vaccine in Lower Manhattan

More New Yorkers are now able to get the Covid-19 vaccine. Grocery workers, first responders, school and child-care workers, public transit employees, people in homeless shelters and anyone over the age of 65 are eligible to book a vaccine appointment, joining the ranks of health-care workers and residents group care homes (see the eligibility requirements here).

Signing up for a vaccine can be confusing, thanks to overlapping agencies and competing state and city websites. And for now, there’s only one vaccination location near Lower Manhattan. So we’ve simplified the process for you to figure out where and how to get a shot in the neighborhood. 

WHERE TO LOOK ONLINE

—NYC.Gov’s Vaccine Finder: This site allows you to search by address or zip code to see health-care providers near you offering the vaccine, and provides phone numbers to call to make an appointment. 

—NYC Health Department Patient Portal: Warning, this portal is not user-friendly. It takes a couple of emails just to set up an account, and then you have to ask a lot of irrelevant questions just to see if you qualify; and then you might not even find any available appointment slots when you go through all that.

—Health and Hospitals Vaccine Scheduler: The site run by Health and Hospitals also offers a slightly easier to navigate portal to find your vaccine eligibility and make an appointment.

LOCATIONS

NYC Health Department Downtown Clinic (125 Worth Street): This is a 24/7 site that just got online this week, one of the city’s few all-night mass-vaccination sites. 

The next nearest locations offering the vaccine are in Chinatown and Two Bridges; check the city’s vaccine finder website for more information.
