Inside the Malibu Barbie Cafe, the Hot Pink Hot Spot of the Summer

We know you’ve got your calendars marked for the release of Greta Gerwig’s upcoming “Barbie” film, set to take theaters by storm on July 21. To tide you over until Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling hit the big screen, the Seaport’s Malibu Barbie Cafe pop-up has all the ultra-bright decor and glittered pancakes your Barbie-loving heart can handle.

Event organizers Bucket Listers have brought an immersive all-Barbie experience to the expansive space at 19 Fulton St., previously home to the Bucket Lister operation Golden Girls Kitchen. This time, the vibes are definitely more 1970s Malibu than 1980s Miami, with Barbie-themed beach scenes, colorful cocktails (or mocktails for the underage) and tasty California-themed dishes. Tickets run $22 to $30 for kids and $39 to $49 for adults; 90-minute table reservations come with your choice of entree and a side, plus the opportunity to take plenty of photos in the life-size Barbie box.
