How to Get a Flu Shot/Covid Booster Combo Downtown
Flu season is just weeks away, and with the newly updated Covid-19 booster finally available, now is the moment to schedule your double jab. Last month, the FDA authorized the updated monovalent booster optimized to fight the XBB 1.5 variant and will offer protection against new variants like EG.5; you can pair that shot with your annual flu vaccine at major chains like Walgreens (sign up here), CVS (sign up here) and Rite Aid (sign up here), or check with your medical provider for availability. You can also opt to split up your Covid booster and flu vaccine if you’d prefer. If you want to wait on your flu shot, it’s recommended you at least get it by the end of October. This way, you’re protected ahead of flu season.
Note that updated Covid vaccines are provided at no cost through your health insurance. If you are uninsured, you can still get a free vaccine via the CDC’s Bridge Access program, which you can learn about here.
